Pawon temple is a mile and a half west of Mendut Temple and east of the temple of Borobudur is a Buddhist temple. When you appreciate the detail, the sculpture is the beginning of Borobudur sculpture.
Pawon Temple is not a tomb, but as a place to keep King Indra's weapon namely Vajranala. This temple was built with volcanic stones. Architecturally, it is a mixture of old Javanese Hindu and Indian art. Pawon temple is exactly the central point in a straight line stretched from Borobudur Temple in Mendut.
Maybe it was built to Kubera. This is a fairly large terrace with steps. All rooms are decorated with stupa (s) Dagoba (s) and its outside walls with symbolic images.
